Brief description:
If Safety in Motion Part I (Tempted to Change) is a sober look at our collective despair, then Safety in Motion Part II (At the Feet of God) is its coked out cousin; a night club fight scene at the fall of patriarchy. The pair are a musical diptych; two facets of the same exploration. In Part II, Ṭaüs is, on one hand, a voice questioning of - and cautioning against - an abusive power dynamic. Moments later, they appear as a gatekeeping spiritual Dom (“do you meet at the feet of God/do you meet at devotion, girl?”)
The song itself blasts us through an exclamatory observation of toxic dynamics. In the video, however, we appear to be watching a live exorcism. Through performance, Ṭaüs invites us into an intimate glimpse of their embodied purge and reconciliation process. The video for Safety in Motion Part II (At the Feet of God) was filmed and performed at an abandoned outdoor stage at Powerhouse Park in Tuxedo Park, NY. Ṭaüs - who directed, edited and performed in the piece - sought to re-activate this space and honor the land it's on. Simultaneously, the stage offered the right amount of privacy and incubation for Ṭaüs to connect more deeply to their own body and shifting appearance through exploratory choreography. Says Ṭaüs: the video "was an active prayer and offering to the divine during the month of Ramadan. It was also a study for me. I am learning, as a trans person, how to shamelessly inhabit my body, heal, find peace and take up space."
