YEИDRY - El Diablo. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.
Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Italy, Yendry Fiorentino, aka YEИDRY, wields a sharp perspective on identity and self-reliance. And she does so with fierce pride. The trilingual newcomer’s discography is relatively limited, but her songs, which switch between Spanish, English and Italian lyrics, burst with personality. “Nena” vividly mines her mother’s difficult decision to leave the DR in search of better opportunities. A follow-up documentary on the same subject - how her mom, and then YEИDRY, ended up in Italy - premiered on Fader. Pitchfork recently called the singer's vibe “magnetic.” She really does have a way of pulling you in. “Se Acabó,” was filmed in Herrera, her Dominican hometown. In it, she strolls through the village, stopping to play soccer and dominoes with neighbors. Pairing an elegant black gown with Air Jordans, her swag could easily conjure comparisons with ROSALÍA. There’s even more magnetism in the way she commands our attention in her performances of “Se Acabó” and “El Diablo.” The latter is her latest track, and a new chapter in a vibrant story that’s only getting more and more captivating with each turn of the page.
