METTE has told interviewers that she's long been a touch shy about calling herself a full-on musician. Yep, the singer, who splits her time between London and L.A., has a cool perspective when it comes to crafting a track - just check her 'METTENARRATIVE' EP for a taste of her various skills. But for the last decade, she's made a career out of her very impressive dance moves. First with N.E.R.D., then with Rihanna, then with JLo. Her on-camera appeal is mighty, too. Greta Gerwig used her as a decommissioned Barbie in the summer's feminist blockbuster. Last spring, when she shared the "Mama's Eyes" video, fans knew that music was exactly her proper calling. Ditto for its follow-up, "Van Gogh." "I realized that when I was writing the song, I was actually talking about the muse within, and how I could inspire myself," she's said. When we invited METTE to our studio for a couple performances, she chose "Van Gogh" and "For The People," both valuable items from the new release. You've gotta see how she rides the beats of dual drummers on the latter. Time to make time for this real-deal musician.
